Not many of us have explored Narara Creek by kayak so we were keen to see what we would find. We pushed off from the beach near the Gosford Sailing Club. Conditions were good. When paddling under the railway bridge one lucky paddler spotted a turtle. The tide was high, and lots of wetland birds were fishing – pied and great cormorants were drying their wings and a white bellied sea eagle lifted from a tree on our approach.

We paddled under the bridge near Macdonalds (we did not stop!) and proceeded up the creek past the racecourse and on to a peaceful stretch behind the factories. Next time we plan to go higher up the creek until it shallows.
