Woy Woy to St Huberts Island – 12 Feb 2020

Kayakers paddling along the channel between Rileys and St Huberts Island

Woy Woy to St Huberts Island – a Mid-Week Paddle

Participants: Val Walker, Peter Renkert, Carol Campbell, Geoff Cameron, Alice De Gruchy, Janele, Trish Treagus, Colin North, Tim North

We set out due east from the Lions Park Wharf and paddled through Rileys Channel which runs along the northern shore of St Huberts Island. We  then   paddled under the bridge connecting St Huberts Island to Daleys Point for a rest stop on the small beach near the bridge.

At the rest stop on the island we learnt we would be attempting to ferry glide across the western face of the Rip Bridge. The tide was really running in fast and full of eddies but we all managed the feat of crossing the tidal flow without losing much distance from the bridge. Then it was back to Woy Woy along the western part of Brisbane Water.
